After several years of uninterrupted growth, the adoption of ESG investments and the growth of ESG markets have stabilized in recent quarters. The ESG bond market has seen slower growth, reaching a total value of €1.9 trillion in the fourth quarter of 2023, up 21% year-on-year, while gross issuance volumes have declined. Article 9 SFDR funds with sustainable investment objectives experienced net outflows for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2023, and outflows from Article 8 SFDR funds promoting environmental or social characteristics accelerated.
